    About

My 2 little granddaughters moved from Sydney (30c + ) to Vienna (-9c) In early February, thick warm clothes are needed. It has been good to finally be able to knit again using thick yarn. I used Morris Empire 10ply Australian Superfine Merino yarn for this project.

    Yarns

    • material-yarn
Morris Empire 10ply Australian Superfine Merino - Soft White + 6 other colours for the stripes 10.0 balls

    Needles & Hooks

    • Crochet Hook 4.00mm (US 6)
    • Circular 4.50mm (US 7) 80cm
Other : Several stitch holders as well as 4.00mm circular needles for edging. I always use circular Knitpro needles as find them so much easier to hold.

    Accessories

    • Buttons
    • Stitch Holder
Other : Have huge bag of very brightly coloured buttons - so I used 5 different coloured buttons of similar sizing to complement the rainbow striping on top part of cardigan

    Measurements

    2-3 Years

Notes: Knitted to sizing on pattern, but due to difference in yarn used, compared to yarn recommended, the cardigan came out slightly smaller than pattern

    Also knitted size 4 - 5 yrs

Thanks Trish, I made these last year, but they were still wearing them up until a few weeks ago. They are now sweltering in the hot European summer.

I love the colours on the sleeve. How did you do this?

I turned the cuff back and then did one row of double crochet with the wrong side facing.

@Lyn R: I feel for you with your little granddaughters moving so far away. How I wish my two little granddaughters lived in N.Z. and not Hong Kong.

Thanks Daisy, I have just posted these off to granddaughters in Vienna today. I ran short on the soft white yarn, so I used one of the contrast colours for the edging on the larger size, rather than fork out another $11 for another ball to finish it off.

@Lyn R: I would never have known that, the buttons and contrast edges really make the difference. I will certainly try this when my little one gets a bit bigger. I can't imagine how much you must be missing them 😔
