    About

From here on out, I'll remember these as my "Disaster Socks." While devastating fires ripped through our region, we stayed indoors (out of the smoke) waiting for news about whether we'd need to evacuate or not. I find knitting very soothing, so I made this pair of socks while listening to an audiobook and the radio (because there was no internet and the phones were down).

    Needles & Hooks

    • Circular 3.25mm (US 3) 80cm

    Accessories

    • Stitch Markers
    • Stitch Holder
    • Tapestry Needle
Other : Be sure to use scrap yarn (not a rigid stitch holder) across the instep when you're turning the heel, otherwise you'll stretch the joining stitches and have a gap!

    Measurements

    Notes: Women's sock.
NOTE: I am nearly six feet tall, and usually wear men's socks. I knit this on size 3 needles. For an average woman's foot, you might want to switch to smaller needles. I used the "magic loop" method with a circular needle, but the pattern calls for knitting in the round on four double-pointed needles.

Thanks Alison! Yes, things are returning to normal, despite the charred aftermath. And, I'm still finding solace in knitting socks. (SO soothing!)
