    About

As I was making Trevor's friend, Norman the peacock, it struck me that, design-wise, a peacock isn't so very different from a turkey. I thought it would just be a case of changing the tail and perhaps making a different head. "I can do that before thanksgiving," I thought to myself, "and DEFINITELY before Christmas!" But then I started making a turkey and realised that there are lots and lots and LOTS of differences. Even the beaks are different. How can beaks be different?! In the end, I changed: the tail, the body, the legs, the head, the beak AND the wings. So, in short, EVERYTHING. Apart from the feet. The feet are the same.

I'm particularly proud of Trevor's tail, which started life as a load of maths. Did I mention that it's knitted in ONE piece?! I know! If I was making Trevor again, I don't think there's much I'd change, apart from finishing him by thanksgiving or, at the very latest, Christmas. And not January. Oops.

I love the story of Trevor, I think every peacock in the land is thoroughly offended at being classed as similar design to a turkey. And what about poor Trevor, I know he's stuffed but I'm sure he would draw the line at being a Thanksgiving or Christmas sacrifice. With a tail as beautiful as that he deserves the same status as a swan, at least for the rest this year!

No, that wasn't one of my better ideas, was it?! I have to change the subject or pretend to have a coughing fit every time someone mentions thanksgiving, Christmas or sage and onion around Trevor. I never had this problem with Norman the peacock!

You probably offended both, peacocks and turkeys by the comparison :-)
      Beautiful job!

Oh dear, I'm already on some sort of register after the police noticed how much time I spent Googling turkeys and peacocks! ;-)

Thanks, Val! I spent a long, long time trying to decide which colours to go for so I'm glad someone's noticed! :-D
