I made this for Family members, then 1 friend whose sister-in-law saw it, and the rest is history!

    About

My siblings and I have these stockings made from kits offered by Bernat yarns as long ago as 1942. Coincidentally, my mother's friend gave the same design stockings to our children, the next generation, so when the first wedding came around I thought to make one for the newest family member, my nephew's bride. The pattern, however, was nowhere to be found. My knitting teacher and I began a ten-year search for the pattern, after she cobbled together charts and patterns for that first one. Ultimately I found the pattern, after a search that covered the internet, a neighbor, a newcomer to my knitting class and the grandmother of a little girl from China! I vary the design on the instep according to generation.
I joyfully share the pattern with anyone who'd like to have it.

I have searched for this pattern for years. My aunt made it for me when I was born. I have made 50 Christmas stockings over the years, but not this one. I would love to have the pattern and instructions. I use the Galway yarn, but it has become harder to find lately. My e mail is: barblynch@verizon.net

Hi Anne, I just stumbled across your stockings post, and my jaw dropped! I have one of these stockings with my name on it from my childhood. I would love to be able to make one for my son and my husband so that we can have a full set for our family. My email address is kat_truitt@hotmail.com. If you'd be willing to email it to me, I'd be most grateful!
