    About

Kept on seeing the pattern and needed a new project and enjoy knitting top down in one piece. Decided to add a band as the pattern is in garter stitch. Learnt long tail cast on method for this project. Wasted some wool doing this method. Will probably use this again as it is a very neat cast on method. After completing the knit I undid it again as I did not like the band. Washed the wool and knitted the whole of the cardigan again. After the knitting and reknitting the most difficult issue was finding buttons. Goldenrod is somewhere between gold and orange. In my reworking of the pattern I added an extra couple of buttons. Also knitted the matching Lottie beret.

Hi Maureen, The beret was with my Lottie pattern when I purchased it. Just did a search on loveknitting and there is a lottie set which has the beret. Happy knitting. Regards Kate

Hi Tracey, It is a while since I did this but the reason that you do the sleeves in one row plain and one row purl is that because you are working in the round that to get the look of garter stitch for the sleeves that you have to do it that way. It is different from the yoke and body which is done in garter stitch (all plain). if you did all knit/plain for the sleeves it would look like stocking stitch. Hope this helps to explain. Regards Kate

@Kate B: thanks very much Kate I'm doing this now it looks slightly different to the body , as if there is a bigger gap between the purl rows . is this something to do with it being a sort of spiral ? it doesn't look that bad though ! ive only done a few rows so far.. thanks very much for getting back to me too. kind regards Tracey
