I think a green hat would be lovely but not a beret. I made some nice beanies with a cable and I’ve a big heid so it’d probably fit him. He’d need it snug for rowing so it didn’t fall in the water. I was knitting socks on DPNs when I had my procedure and the surgeon was fascinated; I have to see him for another 3 years so I could knit socks for him! Thanks for the inspiration Michelle.
