On the darkest days of January and February with the winter Olympics deep in snow and the UK deep in flood water I needed to create something to bring back the summer. Something that would make me see, smell and touch summer. Ah, summer…
No more of my habitual grey; this had to be the most jewel-like of greens. The colour of summer leaves, fully open and embracing the sun. And it had to have leaves (lace of course) and grass (what better than a sweeping stockinette lawn?) and in the border flowers…
The lace stitch pattern is custom-designed for this shawl.
The stockinette sections wrap around your shoulders for that extra bit of warmth and at the same time frame the lace beautifully. However if you prefer, the central panel could be knit as a triangular shawl.
