This pattern has detailed instructions for both Rudy the Reindeer and Robin the....robin. Lots of nice pictures and diagrams where I think it will help. You really don't need much yarn at all so it's a good chance to use up some stash.

adjustable ring starting method (or magic loop)
Working in the round
Single crochet (sc)
Half double crochet (hdc)
Double crochet (dc)
Slip stitch (SlSt)
Increasing (inc)
Decreasing (dec)
You will need (a very rough guide):
About 25g or light brown and scraps of red, dark brown, white and a strand of yellow yarn/thread for the beak
Pair of 5mm plastic eyes for each
hook to match yarn (I used DK weight yarn and 2.5mm hook)
