This design takes its inspiration from the Egyptian revival of the 1920s, which was sparked off by the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb.
To celebrate the independent release of this pattern I chose to re-knit the shawl in a completely different yarn to show how much yarn choice could effect the finished product. I was lucky enough to get to use the Alpaca/Silk blend DK weight yarn Tierno from Miss Babs in the color-way Coventry. The drape and sheen of this yarn transformed the cool and casual look of the summer weight Rowan version into a luxurious and elegant piece suitable to be worn with the fanciest of ensembles.
The pattern instructions are both fully charted and fully written. This pattern is of intermediate difficulty with lace work on the right side only that includes double decreases and double yarn overs.
