Simple Feather & Fan Lace Scarf
This scarf is deceptively simple to make and is an easy introduction for those new to lace knitting. The scarf consists of a simple 4 row pattern, and only one of those rows requires any real concentration. I’ve used a fine mohair silk yarn for a touch of luxury; although to make life even easier you could knit this in a less textured fiber.
You will soon get into a pleasurable & easy rhythm with knitting this up & is great for gifts.
A note about using this pattern: To make the scarf you will need to know how to be able to: cast on using the knit cast on (sometimes referred to as lace cast on); make knit and purl stitches; do yarn overs (yarn forwards). If you don’t know all of these there are a multitude of free instruction videos available on sites such as www.youtube.com.
You can use any weight of yarn depending on how fine or chunky you want your scarf to be – simply adjust the needle size and yarn amounts accordingly.
