Simpson is the third pattern from the Warm Hands, Warm Hearts collection.
This pattern combines a simple stripe sequence and slipped stitches to create a beautifully subtle tweed texture. It begins on single point needles with a Tricolour Braided Cast On which will take a little time to master if you haven’t used it before. Once the twisted rib edge has been knitted the main pattern of 3 colour tweed stitch combined with short rows which turn the rib into a mitred edge that travels up the side edges of the mitten. Once this is complete the work is transferred onto dpns then worked in rounds of the tweed stitch throughout. After casting off the mitred edge is lapped over at the side of the hand and slipped stitched in place to secure
The mittens are knitted in 3 shades of my [Baby Alpaca DK][1] shades shown are Charcoal, Chestnut and Fuchsia

Actual circumference 18 cm (just over 7 in), length 25.5 cm (10 in)
