Product Details
Sumu is a triangular shawl with stripes following the Fibonacci sequence with minor modifications. The shawl is knit top-down in garter stitch, starting from the neck.
The size is customizable to some extent, and will also depend on the row gauge via the yarn and needles chosen, yet the shawl will in most cases be large.
Row gauge is more important than stitch gauge. Unblocked row gauge should be 60 rows per 10 cm/4 in, and blocked 50 rows per 10 cm/4 in.
Yarn: Using ColourMart Cashmere 8/44NM 4ply wt (900 yd / 823 m per 150 g), you will need 660 yd / 600 m (109 g) of the main colour (red in the sample shawl), and 490 yd / 450 m (82 g) of the contrast colour (light grey).
Using Malabrigo Yarn Lace (470 yd / 430 m per 50 g) you will need two skeins of the main colour and one skein of the contrast colour.
Note: You may need more yards/meters if choosing another yarn, or if your gauge is different from the suggested one.
Other supplies: Waste yarn, crochet hook size 3 mm and two stitch markers.
