The Islander is knitted in the round. The main body is worked bottom-up as one piece until the sleeves when the front and backs are knitted separately. Sleeves are picked up and knitted top-down. The shawl collar has short rows (wrap and turn).
The pattern has a number of different cables, instructions are written in full and there are charts.
The sample was made with Drops Cotton Merino. A suggested substitute yarn is shown below.
