To make it easier to follow the pattern of increases and decreases when working the leafy lace repeats – stitches relating to each of the individual leaf motifs are highlighted in yellow and blue.

Using your US #3 (3.25mm) circular needle and your chosen fingering weight yarn cast on 52 sts with your preferred method of cast on

(please note:- if you are using Judy's provisional cast on you need to cast on 52sts on each needle totalling 104sts altogether. Use 52sts on needle 1 to complete row 1 and transfer the 52sts on the 2nd needle to either a stitch holder or a length of spare yarn so they are available for use later on when knitting the icord border).
