I was born and have always lived in the Shetland islands. I’ve knit always and don’t recall exactly when I learnt but have very clear recollections of one wet rainy Easter holidays when my auntie Ann learnt me to knit Fair Isle using lots of colours of Shetland wool in a hat. I don’t know what came of the hat, it was colourful!
I’ve continued to love to knit Fair Isle garments ever since especially gloves and hats, gifting many to family and friends.
