I learned to crochet when I was a kid - my mum taught me the basics. However, I didn't pick up a hook until the request was made for people to knit or crochet some poppies for the 100th anniversary of the armistice. I decided to have a go, and found that crocheting had the side effect of preventing me from munching in the evening. Who'd have thought that crochet is a great weight loss aid?!
I was in a shop and found the excellent book by Sarah Shrimpton 'Beginners guide to crochet'. The way it's been written was so easy to follow, and the rest is history!
To date, I've made bonding squares for the special care baby unit, a scarf and wrist warmers for a friend's Christmas present, Caron's elegant hat, and a load of amigurumi teddies and chicks. I've also lost over a stone!
