Like many knitters, I learned how to knit from my mother at an early age, then forgot about it as life got in the way. My mother retaught me while I was in grad school, so I could knit sweaters with long enough sleeves to fit my 6' frame. I fell in love with knitting, then began designing for myself.

I worked with Classic Elite Yarns for a while before relocating to Vermont where I began Vermont Fiber Designs in 2003. In 2012, after relocating to the south, I started my Basix pattern line, which is simple top-down set-in sleeve patterns. Both lines feature a wide size range; most of the adult patterns go from size XXS to 5XL, 6XL, or 7XL.

I am also a knitting technical editor. I edit knitting patterns for knitting magazines, yarn companies, and independent designers.

I love hiking with my dog Rory, biking, and horseback riding.
