Moira has been knitting since the age of 4 and still feels that a day without knitting is incomplete. She initially worked in Medicines Research in the UK, following a degree in Biology from Sussex University and a Masters in Information Science. However, she changed direction on moving to Japan in the early 1990's to pursue a career in textiles. It was while in Japan that she added spinning, weaving and dyeing to her list of fibre obsessions, but knitting always remained her #1 passion.
On returning to the UK, she established her own company, Wyndlestraw Designs, and now sells patterns all over the world. Her design ethic is to create with nature in mind - her knitting is not only inspired by nature but also uses natural materials so the items can return to the earth at the end of their life.
She recently published a new book: Reversible Knitting Stitches - A Sourcebook of 200 Double-Sided Stitch Patterns. For more details, please see her website: www.wyndlestrawdesigns.com
