Product Details

NEW: A toe up version of this pattern has been added. One price, 2 versions = your choice!

The twisted stitches in this sock give the pattern its name, reflecting the intricacies of old-fashioned wrought iron. To counter-balance how the cabled stitches pull in the fabric slightly, the back of the sock is covered with a simple 4 stitch ribbed repeat. The ribbing is slightly cabled to complement the cabling on the front of the sock.

Sizes: The pattern instructions are provided for two sizes, womens medium (8.5") and large (10"). Where the instructions differ, the instructions for the large size are provided in brackets ( ).

The cables in this pattern are simple 1/1 cables.

Materials: 325-375 yards (297- 343m) of fingering sock yarn 3.5 oz/395 yds (113g/360 m) or similar, 1 set of 5 US #1 (2.5 mm) double-point needles, or size needles required to obtain gauge.

Shown in Madelinetosh sock yarn (395yd/114g). Medium sample sock used approximately 44 g (155 yards
