My mother taught me to crochet when I was six years old. I don't remember what I made, however. In my twenties I crocheted a traditional granny square afghan as a wedding present for my brother and his bride. Mostly, though, I sewed. I taught myself how to knit in my early thirties, while waiting for my first child to be born. My career took off soon after, and time for knitting, sewing, reading and crocheting became a rare and fleeting thing. Retired now and in good health (thank you, Lord!) the knitting bug bit and it bit hard. I have multiple projects in process, a wall of storage bins filled with a vast variety of yarns, needles and notions, and a husband truly dumbfounded by the magnitude of my addiction.
